José WOLFF (Belgian, 1884-1964) : Pupil of De Witte and Carpentier in Liege. Wolff exhibited his works at the Fine Arts Royal Salon in Liege, from 1931 to 1962. Between 1910 and 1913 he lived in Sevilla, where he met the Spanish painter Goneales Boldao.
Wolff depicts here a lively view of the area around Notre-Dame, in 1907, when it was obstructed with many horse-drawn carriages.
