Pancrace Bessa (1772, Paris - 1846, Ecouen) : Pupil of Henri Redouté and Gérard van Spaendonck. Specialized in fruits and flowers. From 1806 to 1831 he regularly exhibited his works at the Salon de Paris. From 1810 he published L'Herbier général de l'amateur whom he was the only illustrator until 1827. In 1823 he succeeded Henri Redouté as Painter of the Natural History Museum.
